Your mind will get cluttered and preoccupied with negative thoughts as the demands of your life mount, including your livelihood, job, fame, wealth, and family, etc. Why? Because you have to struggle with a great number of issues at the moment. 

You are going to find yourself in a state of stress or even worse, depression, if these difficulties keep occurring to you or if you continue to let them build up and repress them. And when these feelings of stress or despair don’t go away or are only temporarily soothed, you often look for ways to run away or avoid solving problems.

These are the things that, according to gurus or psychologists, are the root causes of a person’s lifelong sorrow or misery. Is there a quick and easy solution that will help you live the happy and serene life you’ve always dreamed of, without requiring you to put in a lot of effort or spend a lot of time on ongoing treatment or practice?

Without a doubt, there are many ways you can find peace and happiness, but how long they last depends on what your definition are.

Many thinkers, including philosophers and gurus, are of the opinion that misconceptions about the truth are the reason to blame for human misery. But they don’t know that the way you define something is a big part of why you have the wrong perceptions, which in turn make your life miserable and hard.

Don’t believe it? Let’s try asking your friends what they define as the word “love,” which we’ve been using every day even though we don’t feel it.

You will most definitely be taken aback by the results. Why? Because you will hear an overwhelming number of definitions of love, many of which will be very different from what you define love to be.

Imagine what would happen if your definition of love consisted of things like taking care of everything, being responsible for, etc., while your lover’s definition of love is ” Money.”

You will undoubtedly experience misery and depression at some point in the not too distant future, right? Why? This is because, even though you both say you know what love is, you have very different interpretations of what it means.

Today’s marriage breakdowns are at an alarming rate because none of us have been taught that each of us has a different interpretation of the definition depending on our experiences, circumstances, and living environment. So each of us will interpret the definition according to the desire that we choose.

Once our ego-conscious mind has chosen definitions and comes to believe in them, our belief system becomes a filter that helps us get rid of information that is either not important or could cause us problems, hurt, or grief.

Because of this, it will be very hard for us to agree with definitions that mean different things to different people.

If your lover believes that love is money, then it doesn’t matter how much you care about them or how much you try to make things work between both of you, he/she will still leave you if you either run out of money or don’t have any money.

Those are the realities that you are confronted with on a daily basis in your life. You won’t miss it; all it takes is a little bit of observation on your part.

You don’t need more explanation of the word “love” to understand why your life is constantly full of trials and tribulations when you and your lover have a different interpretation of the word “love”. But now you can realize that just one word of “love” with a different interpretation can destroy your life.

While each of us learns and knows too many words and that each word’s definition can be interpreted in a variety of ways, it should not come as a surprise that why human life is frequently connected with that which is suffering.

Therefore, before you can learn how to achieve the appropriate attitude to bring lasting peace and happiness into your life, the first and most crucial thing in your life needs to be done, and that is to find out if someone else’s definition of peace and happiness is different from yours.

There is no such thing as a correct or incorrect definition. However, each of us has the exclusive right to interpret the term in whatever way we see fit.

If you want to have a life that is filled with more joy and serenity, there are a few things that you really need to keep in mind at all times:

First, when speaking to someone, especially when using words relating to feelings or emotions, you must clarify your definition very precisely. For instance, you could say, “My definition of love is…” or “My definition of anger is…” Why do you say that? It’s simple because it helps the other person understand your definition without assuming you have the same meaning as they do. 

Second, you must respect the right of others to interpret without using your right to compel others to change their definition unless they do so voluntarily. Obviously, you will be quite upset and angry if someone forces you to change your definition, right? That is why you shouldn’t give yourself the “right” to force people to change their definition. If not, they will “stand up” to defend their rights. And there will undoubtedly be sadness and break-downs when there is strife. 

Third, you should never utilize double standards, always single standards. According to the single standard, what is good for you is also good for others. Don’t do to others what you wouldn’t want them to do to you. And a double standard means that when others do or say something to you, it is the wrong thing, but it is right and beneficial for you when you do it. You give yourself the freedom to speak or do whatever you want, but others don’t. If they say or do the same thing as you, they will be blamed and criticized. It would be wrong and awful. 

Fourth, you must always be aware of other people’s definitions. The goal is not for you to judge or criticize that person’s definitions of what is right and wrong. Instead, you should try to understand what that person is trying to interpret. 

When you can practice these four things consistently and make them a habit, your life will be happier and more serene.

There are some things that, at first glance, appear to be quite unimportant, but once their significance is uncovered, they take on a far more significant role. For example, such as your definition.

You need to keep in mind that there is no way that you will be able to treat the condition if you do not know what is causing it.

Regarding the fact that when you have found the cause but you do not believe it and do not apply it, that is your responsibility and no one else’s obligation.

If your life is full of misery and afflictions, you should start to reflect on your definitions, how you accept definitions, and how you act on other people’s definitions.

As long as you are aware of how to apply it correctly, like the tips that were given above, you will be astonished at how much happier and more peaceful your life becomes.

If you change your definition, the way you live your life will shift amazingly.
